Hello, my name is Maya, I am 18 years old and it is my dream to become a commercial airline pilot for British Airways. After writing an article for Travel Radar in January 2024 about the underrepresentation of black female pilots in the UK, I was driven to do more to inspire girls from minority backgrounds who want to become a pilot or have ambitious dreams. It was then that ‘Eliana Wants to Fly’ was ignited.
Through Eliana’s story, I hope to encourage young children to dream big and aim high and I hope to use the funds from book sales to support my pilot training.
Hi, I’m Esila, a 13-year-old with a passion for art. I loved illustrating Eliana Wants to Fly, bringing Eliana’s dreams to life. I hope the book inspires young girls in aviation, showing them that anyone can pursue their dreams, regardless of their background. In the future, I hope to illustrate more books and build a career in the art industry.
Hello, my name is Yashini Nadeesha. I am 25-years-old and the digital illustrator of Eliana Wants to Fly. This book is my first children's picture book and has been a wonderful experience. I’m currently collaborating with international authors as I work towards becoming a leading children's book illustrator.
Hi! I’m Ishraq, a 17-year-old, I love swimming and learning how the systems around me work. I taught myself how to make websites at a young age and ever since then my goal has been to help people pursue their passions - I hope Eliana's story empowers underrepresented children to chase their own dreams!
